Student attendance
Student attendance
As a UWL student you must record your class attendance using the SEAtS system. Card readers are located in all of the timetabled teaching rooms and lecture theatres, and you are required to 'touch in' with your UWL Student ID Card at the start of each scheduled teaching session on your timetable.
The University will use the data provided by SEAtS software to monitor student attendance.
If you forget your card, it’s important to ask the lecturer to mark you as present at the end of the lecture.
Please note that it is very important for you to attend the lectures, workshops and seminars that have been allocated on your timetable. You will not be permitted to move between class groups as you are required to touch in at every allocated scheduled teaching session to record your attendance. If you attend the wrong class group you will be recorded absent for that session.
For more information on SEAtS and touching into class see Section 1.9.5 of the Student Handbook.
International (UKVI) visa students, nursing/midwifery & social work and apprenticeship students
Due to regulatory body and sponsorship requirements you are expected to attend all timetabled and scheduled sessions held on campus at the University.
Let us know if you won’t be able to come to class by following the relevant procedure below:
-
International (UKVI) visa students - absence process
Absences of 5 days or less
Please email us so we can log your absence academic.administration@uwl.ac.uk

Absences of more than 5 days
Please fill in the authorised absence form for visa students and email it to int.compliance@uwl.ac.uk. This form must be signed by your personal tutor or course leader before you send it to compliance.
The compliance team will contact you and your course leader to confirm whether your absence has been approved or rejected. The compliance team will log your attendance on our monitoring system if accepted. Please do not book any flights before a decision has been made in case your request is rejected.
