Earth Day - Business students invest in local community sustainability project through consultancy skills

Article body

Postgraduate students from the Claude Littner Business School have invested their time and skills in a sustainability consultancy project for Chiswick Park, home to leading companies including QVC, Discovery, Starbucks and Danone.

The project was developed by UWL’s Fresh Minds for Business, an award-winning student-led consultancy programme working with businesses in West London to support growth, competitiveness and resilience. The students delivered practical recommendations on how Chiswick Park can align their current environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, identifying good practices and delivering a clear set of recommendations.

Prakriti, one of the student consultants, said:

I learned a lot from this project that will further help me in my future career. I am very grateful to Chiswick Park for believing in us and providing such a great, ‘one-of-a-kind' opportunity.”

Dr Suresh Gamlath, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Business Development), who advised the consulting team on the technical aspects of ESG implementation, said:

There are many ways to invest in our planet and work to secure a sustainable future. This project is a good example of how our students invested their skills and time for a greener business community, and in the process also gained valuable experience.”

Chiswick Park CEO Matt Coulson said of the project:

We are proud to lead the way in delivering one of the most sustainable campuses in the UK and totally committed to our net zero pathway. We were very impressed by the work the students delivered and are keen to implement many of their ideas and recommendations as we continually look to grow and develop our ESG outputs and commitments.”

Chiswick Park is a 1.8 million square foot space better known as Chiswick Park Enjoy-Work. The Park has won numerous awards, the most recent being ‘Business of the Year’ from West London Chambers of Commerce.
