Getting to know West London
Introduction
Studying at UWL’s West London campus means you’re well connected and will never be short of things to do. Here are some ways you can make the most of it (on a low budget).
Getting to know West London
Shopping
If sifting through antiques or finding a bargain is your preferred way to shop, make sure to check out the Chiswick car boot sale which is held once a month at Chiswick School in Hounslow.
Parks and green spaces
Green spaces can be a welcome escape from city life. Ealing, also known as ‘Queen of the suburbs’ for being the greenest borough in London, is surrounded by parks, greenery, and beautiful walking routes.
Just a 20-minute walk from the Ealing, Saint Mary’s campus is Gunnersbury - the home of UWL’s sports hub.
Activities in and around West London
As students, activities are even better when cheap or better yet…free. Firstly, did you know there was a zoo in Hanwell? For only £4.50 you can visit the lemurs, meerkats, and reptiles in Brent Lodge Park.
One of the great things about London is the long list of museums and galleries, which are usually free to visit. Some great ones in West London are the V+A, Science Museum, and Natural History Museum in South Kensington.
Why not try a free activity with friends and have a go playing giant chess in the tranquil Kyoto Gardens in Holland Park which was created by a Japanese designer to commemorate the long friendship between Japan and Great Britain.
BOXPARK Wembley
Lastly, make sure to visit BOXPARK Wembley because not only is it filled with great cultural food and drink but it has everything from axe throwing, virtual reality, and crazy golf to try your hand at.
