University pays tribute to Jamal Edwards
Staff and students at the University of West London have lauded the impact Jamal Edwards will have for generations to come, following his untimely death.
In December, the YouTube trailblazer was recognised for his success when he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Letters by the University.
Professor Peter John CBE, Vice-Chancellor of UWL: said:
Jamal used his success to campaign on the issues that mattered to him and to young people in our community. He stepped up to raise concerns about the closure of youth facilities and used his influence to help get young people off the streets and into work. For generations to come he will be an inspiration to our students as someone who not only pursued his dreams but ensured others benefitted from his success."
Stella Webb, President of the UWL Students’ Union said:
Jamal demonstrated that opportunities are endless and through his success he provided a voice for the voiceless. Jamal was so humble but has left a mark on so many people’s hearts, his legacy will live on through those he inspired."
