This is the third league table in a week where UWL has been ranked as a top 50 university.

Commenting on the latest league table results, Professor Peter John CBE, UWL Vice-Chancellor and President, said,

Being ranked first for Student Experience and Teaching Quality out of 131 universities in the UK is a tremendous achievement. We are delighted to see the skill and dedication of our teaching staff and their commitment to preparing our students for success in their future careers recognised in this way."

Peter John Vice Chancellor

Being named ‘Best for Student Experience’ is a great honour as our students are at the heart of everything we do,”

he continued.

That is why we have a relentless focus on delivering the best possible student experience so that they may thrive and achieve the success they deserve. I am delighted that UWL has been ranked sixth for social inclusion, up seven places from last year; and, of course, we were recently named University of the Year for Social Inclusion by another major national league table just last week. Equality of opportunity and inclusion is in our DNA, and we are proud of our diverse student community.”

The Guide also recognises the investment UWL has made in research, propelling it 29 places into the top 100 for Research Quality in the Guide, based on results of the Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021) where nearly 80 per cent of the University’s work submitted for assessment was rated world-leading or internationally excellent.

The Guide also highlights UWL’s top 20 ranking in the latest People and Planet university league for environmental efforts — using £5million of government funding to retrofit its campus with low-emission heating, energy and lighting to save 500 tonnes of carbon emissions a year.

Last month UWL was ranked 1st in London*, 3rd in England* and 4th in the UK* in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2023.
