Evolving Intensive Care Practice
Overview
The aim of this credit-bearing course is to equip you with the knowledge and skills to be able to develop intensive care practice and collaborative practice in the wider intensive care team while demonstrating collective leadership qualities within the intensive care environment and practice.
Course requirements:
- Evidence of study at Level 5 (Diploma Level)
- You must be working in an intensive care environment
- Completion of Step 1 CC3N competencies.

Credits: 20
Assessment method: Please note all assessments must be passed.
- Patient/visitor/staff education leaflet with a written assignment
- Clinical competencies (pass/fail).

This course is taught on day release, select a start date to see the study days:
Study days are from 9am to 5pm.
This course is exclusively for London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust staff.
The content of the course includes classroom-based learning on the skills to appraise critical care research, interactive leadership training and practical improvement science-based sessions.
The course also includes the opportunity for you to complete North West London Critical Care Network transfer training which is delivered externally to the university.
This forms the second module as part of the intensive care course and involves completing Step 2 and 3 of the National Competencies for Adult Critical Care Nurses as part of the CC3N national guidance for intensive care nursing education.
