We want to make sure you get the best IT and online support that we can give you.

Here is how to access desktop apps for free, including Microsoft Office applications.

Accessing UWL desktop apps from home

Step 1

  • Visit the AppsAnywhere page.
  • Log in with your usual UWL Student IT Account (your Student ID) and password.
  • You’ll need a Windows PC running an up-to-date version of Google Chrome or Firefox. Other browsers do not always work reliably.

Step 2

If it is the first time you have used the service, you will be prompted to download and install the AppsAnywhere Cloudpaging application. You should accept this download and run the installer, following the prompts as necessary.

Once completed, you will see a blue bar at the top of the window, saying “Validation in progress” and a Pop up asking you to open the AppsAnywhere Launcher will appear. Click on “Open AppsAnywhere Launcher”.

Step 3

The blue bar will turn green and then you are able to open any of the apps displayed by clicking on their icon.

Note: AppsAnywhere will run the application on your own PC but it does not install a local copy. You will need to log back into AppsAnywhere in order to run applications in the future.
