About the Library

Accessing the Library

UWL Staff and Students

All staff and students are automatically members of the Library. Your University of West London ID card admits you to our Libraries and enables you to borrow our resources. If you have a problem with your card, or you lose it, please contact the UWL ID Card Centre immediately on 020 8231 2070.

Users of the Libraries are reminded that access to our facilities and services is restricted to UWL students, staff and authorised visitors only.

Accessing e-resources

Many of our electronic resources require you to use your UWL network logon details. Some e-resources may require a separate username/password, which will be detailed in their A-Z list entry.

SCONUL Access Scheme

SCONUL Access is a co-operative venture between most of the higher education libraries of the UK and Ireland. It gives access to other institutions and borrowing rights for UWL and non-UWL:

  • academic staff on open or fixed term contracts
  • postgraduate research students registered for a PhD, MPhil or similar qualification
  • part-time, distance learning and placement students
  • full-time postgraduates

Full-time undergraduates can use the scheme to visit other libraries but for reference purposes only and do not receive borrowing rights.
