Celebrating The Queen's Platinum Jubilee
Jubilee
As we approach the Platinum Jubilee weekend, the UK is gearing up to celebrate and mark The Queen’s remarkable 70-year reign.
The Queen, of course, is no stranger to UWL, having been guest of honour to officially open the Paragon building in 2009, when she was accompanied by Prince Philip.
In 2010, the University’s London Geller College of Hospitality and Tourism was awarded the prestigious Queen’s Anniversary Prize for outstanding achievement and excellence in hospitality education.
For many years, we have worked closely with the Royal Household to provide job opportunities for our graduates and of course UWL graduate Mark Flanagan is Executive Chef, Royal Palaces.
Professor Peter John was honoured to be awarded a CBE in The Queen’s 2020 New Year honours list for his outstanding work and service to higher education.
We’d love to hear about any street parties you’re going to, or whether you’re planning to head into Central London to soak up the atmosphere. Please send through to communications@uwl.ac.uk as we would love to share your Platinum Jubilee stories in our next issue of The Insider.
Wishing all the UWL community a wonderful Platinum Jubilee weekend.
