Making it to the top – an evening with The Bees

In an event that will be streamed live from the University of West London (UWL), Brentford FC’s Head Coach Thomas Frank, Chief Executive Jon Varney and Director of Football Phil Giles will discuss how the club ripped up the rulebook to become the Premier League’s most impressive new debutant.

Brentford Football Club has been on an exciting journey over the past decade to change its fortunes. A mainstay in the third tier of English football for many years, The Bees achieved promotion to the Championship in 2014, before earning its place in the Premier League in 2021 for the first time in the club’s history.

Frank, Varney and Giles will talk candidly about the highs and lows of this journey, as well as what the future holds. They’ll share how the club’s trailblazing approach to player recruitment and the business side of football has enabled them to find hidden value and build a brand-new stadium.

Anyone registering for the online event will also be in with a chance of winning exclusive tickets to be part of the live audience.

Professor Anthony Woodman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at UWL, said:

Brentford is one of those clubs who love to nurture and bring through talent. It’s a quality they share with the UWL.

The event is an incredible opportunity to hear first-hand what it takes to rise up through the ranks. I’m very much looking forward to being a part of it.”

‘Creating a Premier League football team’ will take place on Wednesday 27 April at 6.30pm.
