Students and graduates find out about job opportunities at Life and Health Sciences Careers Fair

UWL hosted a Life and Health Sciences Careers Fair on Thursday 9 November to support students and graduates as they plan for what they will do after university. Hundreds of attendees connected with more than 30 organisations offering employment opportunities plus UWL’s Volunteering, Peer Mentoring, Talent Bank and Careers teams.

said a first year Biomedical Sciences student.
Bio-Sciences student Deborah commented,
It has been great. I have found some opportunities to volunteer within healthcare systems for NHS trusts.”
The Omnicon Health Group, a large healthcare marketing and communications network, were at the event looking for graduates. Their representative Christina said,
Biomedical Sciences or Psychology graduates are ideal. But we are also looking for people with creative backgrounds.”
Volunteering for us will give students practical experience within the first aid environment working alongside doctors, nurses and paramedics,”
said Alexandra from St John Ambulance, a charitable organisation dedicated to teaching first aid. They were at the fair encouraging students to set up a St John Ambulance society as well as to join them as volunteers.
Ealing RISE drug and alcohol service, which offers advice, information and a detox programme to people recovering from addictions, were promoting and recruiting for a range of paid and volunteer roles:
We are recruiting for recovery and mental health workers and for our women’s service. Students of Addiction Studies or Psychology would be ideal candidates.”
