V Awards 2021 full list of winners

Introduction

At the University of West London, we are proud to be an active part of the local community with a growing culture of social responsibility. Our student volunteer programme – led by the V Team – represents this culture perfectly.

The V Awards are a chance to celebrate the incredible volunteer work done throughout the year by the entire UWL community.

This past year has provided many challenges – but we couldn’t be prouder of our students who have exceeded expectations to deliver a whopping total of 3,745 volunteering hours in the 2020/21 academic year.

The V Awards offered certificates to all students who participated in volunteering activity, and special awards to those who committed a significant number of hours towards volunteer work:

  • Bronze Award – 25 hours or more of volunteering
  • Silver Award – 50 hours or more of volunteering
  • Gold Award – 100 hours or more of volunteering
  • Platinum Award – 200 hours or more of volunteering

There were also awards in four additional categories to honour those who have truly gone above and beyond: Student Volunteer of the Year, Peer Mentor of the Year, Organisation of the Year, and Academic School/College of the Year.

Special praise also goes to the amazing staff and students of the College of Nursing, Midwifery and Healthcare who took the brave decision to put other commitments on hold, in order to help the NHS manage the initial outbreak of Covid-19.

By giving up their time for important causes, students have the ability to deliver a very real and immediate impact on our local community – participating in initiatives that enrich our culture, protect our environment, and provide help to those in need.

And in doing so, students are able to gain valuable skills, meet some amazing people, and enjoy some incredible experiences.
