London College of Music

George Muranyi was born and raised in West London, growing up in Heston. George started piano lessons at the age of five, and his natural ability was quickly apparent. George went on to compete in (and win) several piano competitions during his school years.

In 1989, George was approached by Graham Collier OBE with an offer to study on the inaugural jazz course at the Royal Academy of Music. George spent four years at the Academy, quickly proving himself to be hugely gifted at improvisation. He was honoured to play in private twice for HRH Princess of Wales (then the Academy's President). George also won the Benjamin Doniger jazz scholarship whilst at the Royal Academy of Music.

Prior to and following his graduation with Honours in 1993, George's talents were employed to do gigs for several of the leading names in music, including Doris Troy, Joyce Simms, Aled Jones, Elkie Brooks, Maxi Jazz, Darius, Benny Green, Van Morrison, Leo Green, Delta Goodrum, Tito Jackson, Eddy Grant, Leo Sayer, Lee John, Tony Christie, Bryan Adams, Jeff Beck, Elliott Randall, Mick Abrahams, Out of My Hair, Leena Conquest, Chrissie Hynde and Davy Spillane.

George has worked with producers Chris Kimsey (The Rolling Stones), Chris Potter (The Verve), Bob Clearmountain and Andy Wright (Simply Red, Jeff Beck, Annie Lennox).

In recent years, George has played with The Ronnie Scottʼs Allstars, toured worldwide with Darren Hayes (ex Savage Garden) and he toured Europe and played the Barclays Center, New York City, with Sixto Rodriguez (the subject of the Oscar-winning film Searching for Sugarman).

George has been teaching jazz piano and popular music keyboards at LCM for over 10 years and is now also teaching one to one lessons in contemporary music production, keyboard harmony and synthesizer programming to singer songwriters and music producers.
