Janet Goddard

Janet Goddard

Senior Lecturer in Social Work
College of Nursing, Midwifery and Healthcare

Janet is a Senior Lecturer, specialising in law, at the University of West London. She is a Doctoral Researcher, with a focus on assessment and assessment feedback from the lecturer’s perspective. 

Janet is the Assessment Officer for the BSocial Work (Hons) programme. She completed the Transitioning to Leadership course in 2022 and is a trained Mental Health First Aider. Janet gained a merit award in 2020. She is a trained SEDA coach and mentor, supporting students and colleagues across UWL. Janet is a trained Union Senior Convenor, a Lead Personal Tutor and the Health and Safety Officer for CNMH.

Janet is a DSE Assessor, a Fire Marshall and an EMS Internal Auditor. She trained as an External Examiner, Course Validator and Critical Reader, and is an assessor for candidates undertaking the AFHEA and FHEA. Janet is a trained and licensed Assessment Board Chair. She supports social work and nursing undergraduate and postgraduate students with their research and projects. Janet is a Peer Reviewer for BERA and BERJ. Janet has also been engaged with the consultation of the revised quality code with the QAA (2024).

My main subject areas currently are Social Policy and Law for Children and Families, Social Policy and Law for Adult Social Care, and Advanced Communication. I contribute to other modules in social work and on other courses, including engagement with interprofessional learning.
