Lecturer in Midwifery
College of Nursing, Midwifery and Healthcare

Since joining the NHS in 2012 and qualifying as a registered midwife in 2017, I have worked as a clinical rotational midwife in two acute midwifery units in Surrey and Berkshire. Whilst gaining experience in all acute maternity intrapartum and inpatient wards, as well as community midwifery services, intrapartum care, fetal physiology interpretation of CTGs, complimentary therapies in midwifery and continuity of care became my area of interest and expertise.

I then joined the maternity clinical education team, firstly as a clinical skills facilitator midwife and then as Practice Development Lead Midwife for student midwives. Within my role as Practice Development Lead Midwife for student midwives, I found my passion for clinical education and supporting students, where I had the opportunity to work on local, regional and national student initiatives with NHS England, which have helped to develop the student voice, identity and belonging in practice. This role also allowed me to develop professional relationships with the students and university partners; my passion for supporting students both in practice and academia grew and led me to the University of West London for the next chapter in my midwifery career.

I feel very privileged to be joining the midwifery lecturer team and the College of Nursing, Midwifery and Healthcare at the University of West London, and I am very much looking forward to supporting students in their careers as healthcare professionals.
