Moena Omar

Lecturer in Midwifery

Moena holds a BSc in Midwifery, graduating in 2017, followed by a MSc in Global Health and Development from UCL, awarded in 2020. Her professional journey includes experience in clinical practice, whilst later on transitioning into roles with a focus on Risk and Governance within maternity. Alongside this she served as the PMRT midwife at Northwick Park Hospital, working towards improving perinatal outcomes.

With a keen focus on addressing perinatal and maternal inequality, Moena was a delegate for the United Nations 67th Commission on the Status of Women in 2023, representing UN Women UK. Moena’s research thesis examining the impact of policy reforms and economic regulations, on maternal and infant mortality rates in Sub-Saharan Africa, was chosen for presentation at the FIGO World Congress in 2021.

She has worked on projects to improve healthcare outcomes for vulnerable populations through her role as a panel member for MBRRACE focusing on the care of black women who experienced perinatal deaths.
