Dr Rashid Minhas

Senior Lecturer in Criminology and Psychology

Rashid is a criminal psychologist who has expertise in policing, prejudicial stereotyping in criminal investigations, investigative decision-making, and investigative interviewing of suspects, witnesses and victims.

He has a PhD in ‘Criminal Investigation’ from the De Montfort University, Leicester, where he examined the influence of suspect community stereotyping on criminal investigations.

Rashid also has an experience of working on major police commissioned research project as a principle investigator, where he examined the working practices of police officers undertaking operational stops and searches. This project is conducted in order to enhance police-community relations, to ensure legality and effectiveness of stop and search powers.

His existing research profile focuses on investigative decision making, integrating artificial intelligence and cognitive interviewing techniques, and workplace harassment. He is presently teaching across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes within Criminology and Psychology.
