Introduction

Making her dream career a reality, a University of West London maths student is following her passions to help others thanks to double scholarship support.

BSc (Hons) Mathematics and Statistics graduate Bhairavi Premnath made the most of a host of financial and wellbeing support over her three years at UWL, through both the School of Computing and Engineering award, and School of Computing and Engineering bursary.

The mathematician, who was born and raised in Sri Lanka, is now putting her talents and hard work towards an MSc in statistics as she moves ever closer to her childhood dream of inspiring other people to pursue careers in maths and engineering.

quote

I always wanted to become a lecturer and follow my passion for mathematics, and these awards have helped to motivate and encourage me to achieve my goals to help others and teach what I love.

My uncle and aunt have supported me financially as I study, so these awards have reduced that burden for them while giving me the confidence to work hard towards my goal. It really has been a stepping-stone towards my dream, already helping me secure my masters course, and eventually I hope to get a great job in academia.
