Cutting-edge fashions designed by graduating students premiered at the University of West London’s Graduate Summer Showcase 2017 fashion show, last night – a sold-out event which involved renowned designer to the stars and UWL Visiting Professor, Ronit Zilkha.

Held in Lawrence Hall at the University’s campus in Ealing, the show featured designs created by talented BA (Hons) Fashion and Textile students at London School of Film, Media and Design (LSFMD).

A total of 32 collections created by students over the course of four months received a wonderful reception from a packed house, which celebrated the achievement and hard work behind each garment. The showcase was a graduation realisation project for final-year students preparing to embark upon careers in the creative sector, using knowledge and expertise learned at UWL.

Each collection was prefaced by a short video lasting one minute, which detailed the design journey of the garments all the way from the students’ imaginations to the catwalk. Created in-house at LSFMD, the videos were sensitive to the theme of each collection and highlighted the thought processes behind them.

Mentoring the students was UWL Visiting Professor of Fashion, Ronit Zilkha, who has more than 25 successful years in the British fashion industry, during which time she has designed clothes worn by Princess Diana, Hollywood stars Julia Roberts and Kate Winslet, and Cherie Blair.
