Seventeen guest employers representing a variety of companies attended the fair to network with students and graduates and share employment opportunities and initiatives on offer. UWL’s Careers team and Talent Bank were also in attendance to advise and support students in finding part-time work.

We are here recruiting students to work as stewards at some of the UK’s top music festivals,”

explained Archard, a former UWL student who studied Social Media Marketing and is now Marketing and Sales Coordinator at security service company Kingfisher SEC.

Lots of students are interested as it's a great way to experience festivals, as well as to get your foot in the door of the security industry, a fantastic industry to be in.”

MSc Finance student Sowmiya said:

It’s been so helpful to find out what companies are hiring. I’ve discovered that I can get part-time work as a nursery assistant – I thought I’d need to do some extra courses – but I don’t, so I’m going to pursue that.”

Hamzah, an acting student at UWL who works part time for Dusemond (who provide residential summer camp experiences for high school students) explained:

We’re hiring for students to work on our study programmes. It is a fantastic way of making friends - we are an international community of students from all over the world. They listen to our ideas - I even helped set up the drama department!”

Coming to the fair to find out more about part-time jobs is a must for international students, according to Booja, who is studying for an MA in Advertising, Branding and Communication:

I have found out about so many opportunities. I am planning to apply to work with Dusemond – I hope I get in!”

UWL students can learn about thousands of job opportunities, including part-time, internship, placements, and graduate roles on the Student Hub.
