Phelan Kane is a London based music producer, engineer, programmer and academic. He has worked with clients as diverse as Placebo, Radiohead, Fad Gadget, Snow Patrol, Dido, Sony BMG, Universal, EMI and Warner Bros. For over twelve years Phelan has taught music technology, recording, production and programming concepts. He is an Ableton Certified Trainer, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, an Affiliate of the Institute for Learning, a member of the Audio Engineering Society and a member of the UKs Music Producers Guild.
Phelan was Head of Higher Education at British and Irish Modern Music (BIMM), London where he overseed all aspects of the HE curriculum and the provision and delivery of all HE courses. He is a link tutor between TMS and their partners the London College of Music - part of the University of West London.
Current areas of research include music production schematics, recording traits, synthesis, programming techniques, psychology of production, independent business models, technology and performance integration, DSP systems, analogue processing, software interfaces and design, learning & teaching theory, virtual learning environments and blended learning.
Phelan successfully graduated from the MA Audio Technology in 2006. The course empowered Phelan to enhance both his academic research portfolio and his practical skills.
