UWL lecturer recognised as one of Business Elite Awards’ ‘40 under 40’

Dr Gemma Pybus, Senior Lecturer at the UWL's Claude Littner Business School (CLBS), was recognised in the ’40 under 40’ young business leaders at the Business Elite Awards on Thursday 15 June. The event took place at a gala dinner at the opulent and historic Ciragan Palace Kempinski in Istanbul, Turkey.

Business Elite Awards’ ‘40 Under 40’ is a prestigious global awards programme that identifies outstanding young executives and entrepreneurs. The awards dinner enables business leaders to network and make new and inspiring connections.
Dr Viktor Gjorgjieski, who is Business Elite Awards’ Director, said,
This event was a celebration of exceptional business talent, success and undoubted bright futures for our 40 Honourees.”
As well as teaching about innovation, creativity and digital futures on the MSc Digital Marketing course at UWL, Dr Pybus is co director of a digital marketing agency. She has delivered professional digital marketing training to numerous businesses across Europe.
Dr Pybus has also co developed a free Business Keyword Strategy tool so businesses can find out how many people are looking for their product and service and the kind of language they are using when searching for it.
Speaking about the awards, Dr Pybus said,
It was surreal to win this award. It was a diverse event in a lovely location. The other winners were from exciting businesses all over Europe including Macedonia, Georgia, Spain, France and Italy.
I was sitting next to a medical technology innovator who has developed software that helps to turn two dimensional medical scans into three dimensional models to help surgeons prepare for surgery. This really goes to show the wide range of talented and inspirational award winners who were at the event.”
Dr Dinusha Weerawardane, Subject Head at CLBS, said,
At UWL, we prepare students to be work-ready professionals, and we do that by bringing industry expertise to the classroom. Recognition such as this is testament to the quality of teaching and learning in our classrooms.”
