  • Approaches to Personal and Professional Development

    The aim of this module is to give you the academic skills necessary for the course as well as develop your employability and graduate skills. The module will focus on comprehending and applying effective academic competencies whilst also addressing the key areas required for future employability within the esports industry. 

  • Introduction to Budgeting and Finance for Esports Management

    The aim of this module is to equip you with a foundational understanding of financial principles and practices essential for effective management within the esports industry. 

    Through a comprehensive exploration of budgeting techniques, revenue generation strategies, and financial decision-making processes specific to esports, the module seeks to empower you with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the dynamic financial landscape of esports organisations. 

    By focusing on practical applications and industry-specific scenarios, the module aims to foster financial literacy and competence, preparing you for future roles where budgeting and financial acumen are integral to successful esports management. 

  • Introduction to Esports Management

    This module serves as an introductory exploration into the fundamental principles of esports management, providing you with a comprehensive understanding of the industry. 

    Through a combination of theoretical frameworks and practical applications, you will gain insights into the key components that contribute to successful esports management. This module sets the stage for deeper exploration in subsequent levels, providing you with a solid foundation in esports management and preparing you for more advanced topics in the field.

    This module provides you with a comprehensive exploration of the intersection between media and esports. 

    Through theoretical discussions and practical applications, you will develop a nuanced understanding of the role media plays in shaping, promoting, and broadcasting esports content.

  • Health, Culture and Society in Esports Management

    This Level 4 module immerses you in a dynamic exploration of the intricate relationships between health, culture, and society in the context of esports management, specifically emphasising nutrition and wellbeing. 

    You will delve into the physiological and psychological aspects impacting gaming performance, analysing the cultural influences shaping esports practices and understanding societal perceptions.

  • Digital Marketing and Consumer Behaviour

    You will be introduced to the dynamic and changing world of digital marketing and communications. The importance of creating and sustaining internal and external digital communications as well as delivering the online customer experience are explored. This module aims to offer you an overall perspective of the aspects of consumer behaviour in a digital age. 

  • Risk Management, Ethics and Regulations for Esports

    This module aims to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of risk management, ethical considerations, and regulatory frameworks within the context of the esports industry. You will explore the unique challenges associated with esports and develop the skills necessary for effective risk mitigation, ethical decision-making, and compliance with relevant regulations. 

    The module equips you with the knowledge and skills to navigate the complex landscape of risk, ethics, and regulations in the esports industry. Through theoretical exploration and practical applications, you will gain insights into the importance of responsible management in the fast-evolving world of esports.

  • Eplayer Nutrition and Wellbeing

    The module aims to equip you with a comprehensive understanding of the principles of nutrition and wellbeing tailored for esports athletes, fostering an appreciation for holistic health in the context of competitive gaming.   

    The module explores the intersection of esports and nutrition, emphasising the impact of lifestyle choices on player performance. It delves into the critical role of nutrition and overall wellbeing in optimising esports athletes' cognitive and physical capabilities. 

  • Coaching for Eplayers

    This module focuses on advanced coaching techniques tailored to the unique needs of esports athletes. Addressing the intricate blend of cognitive skills, team dynamics, and physical wellbeing, you will develop expertise in coaching strategies specific to the esports realm. The module aims to equip you with advanced coaching skills, fostering the holistic development of eplayers in the context of esports, encompassing cognitive performance, team dynamics, and overall wellbeing. 

  • Working in the Esports Industry

    This module will prepare you to enter the esports and creative industries with the requisite skills and experience to promote yourself through enterprise and entrepreneurship. 

    Developing an enterprising mindset, you will be supported to identify key work-related skills you wish to develop. In addition, you will participate in events led by industry (such as guest speakers, workshops, interviews etc.) to support preparation for the next steps. 

    This module will encourage the generation of materials to support career aspirations, as well as ongoing reflection and evaluation to evidence and support learning which can be written or as a post-experience discussion. Awareness around utilising current online practices and engagement in a work placement will be key aspects of this module. 

  • Advanced Eplayer Wellbeing Management

    Building upon the foundation laid by the module "The Eplayer - Nutrition and Wellbeing," this advanced module aims to deepen your understanding of the nutritional and wellbeing needs specific to esports athletes.

    You will critically evaluate and develop advanced strategies to optimise the nutrition and overall well-being of esports players in the competitive gaming environment.

72 UCAS points required from level 3 qualifications

These can include:

  • A-Levels at grades B and C (if you have two A-Levels) or grades D, D and D (if you have three), or above
  • BTEC Extended Diploma with Merit, Merit, Pass
  • Access to HE Diploma
  • T-Levels

You also need GCSE English and Maths (grade 9 – 4 / A* - C) or Level 2 equivalents.

 

Candidates without formal academic qualifications will also be considered where they have relevant work experience in accordance with the University’s policy for Accreditation of Prior (Experiential) Learning. 

No hands-on computing/gaming experience is required.

You may be eligible for a student loan to cover the cost of tuition fees, or a maintenance loan. Additional funding is available to some types of students, such as those with dependants and disabled students.

5.5 IELTS or above

You need to meet our English language requirement - a minimum of IELTS 5.5 for each of the four individual components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening). Visit our English language requirements page for information on other English language tests we accept.

You also need academic qualifications at the same level as UK applicants. In some countries where teaching is in English, we may accept local qualifications. Check for local equivalents

The Coaching for Esports foundation degree prepares you for a range of potential global careers and roles including:

Videos - all videos on our course pages were accurate at the time of filming. In some cases a new Course Leader has joined the University since the video was filmed.

Availability of placements - if you choose a course with placement/internship route we would like to advise you that if a placement/internship opportunity does not arise when you are expected to undertake the placement then the University will automatically transfer you to the non-internship route, this is to ensure you are still successful in being awarded a degree.
