Future You: Final steps
Top tips for Future You
You’re nearly there! Soon you will be completing your studies, celebrating at graduation and taking the next steps to ‘Future You’.
We’ll be with you every step of the way to ensure you meet your full potential now and into the future, because graduating is not the end of your relationship with UWL. When you graduate, you’ll become part of an exclusive club of 100,000 UWL alumni doing great things across the world.
Over the next few months, we’ll be sharing lots of advice and guidance so you get the most of being part of UWL, now and into the future.
If you’re not sure where to start, just follow these four key steps.
5 Key Steps
Think ‘career’
Having a career plan can make all the difference in getting you on the right path to a dream career rather than a humdrum job.
Take advantage of all the experience and industry-specific knowledge our Careers Consultants have by booking your Career Consultation via the Student Hub.
Start considering postgraduate study
When you graduate from the University of West London, there are so many paths open to you, and one of those paths is right back through the doors of our campus.
If you have more to learn or want to try something new, why not consider applying for a postgraduate degree at UWL? We’d love to welcome you back!
Complete your studies
You’ve already achieved so much during your time at UWL and we’re here to support you to complete your studies successfully. Whether you just need some advice on exams, top tips to ace your assignments or just want to speak to someone about something you’re struggling with – we’ve got the support for you.
Check out all the study support UWL provides or get in touch with Student Experience Team.
Stay connected
Being part of the UWL alumni community means you can get access to lots of benefits available just to graduates like you, including free access to LinkedIn Learning for 12 months, invites to exclusive events and careers information that’s bespoke to you. Make sure you don’t miss out on everything that’s on offer by updating your contact information via MyRegistry.
Have you backed up your data?
Make sure you have backed up important data from your online student accounts as soon as possible. After you finish your studies, you will not have access to your student email, Blackboard, or OneDrive.
Take some time this week to go through your files and save anything you don’t want to lose: important emails, relevant documents, key contacts, anything you think might be useful in the future.
Your accounts will be deactivated three months after you have completed your studies, and we don’t want you to be caught out later down the line.
We also encourage you to make other arrangements for any software products you still need to use, (such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite or anything else provided through the university) as this access is for students only.
However, we are pleased to offer our alumni continued access to LinkedIn Learning, the Library and the Careers Service.
